What game were you hyped for and it turned out to be a huge dissapointment? Even though I did enjoy it to an extent I was dissapointed by Mafia 3.

It bored me so much. That's the only game I ever got hyped on that was a major disappointment. That was my own fault, though.

3rd- Fable 2 ending

2nd- Fable 3 (just disappointing)

Worst imo - Star Ocean 3 twist
Water+Fall=Radiation.
Honestly it's FF7 for me. I first played it towards the end of the PS1. I got about half way through and thought the story and gameplay were horrible and quit. It's still one of, if not the worst video game I've ever played.

IMO of course.

I think part of my disliking it was because everyone always said it was the "best game ever made". That made my expectations for it too high.

GTA 5. I'm probably just too old now but a lot of the excitement was gone. I didn't care for the character switching or anything like that. It was better than 4 but ehhhh.

If not that, Crysis 2. The first one wasn't just a PC killer, it was an amazing game in its own right. 2 and 3 were crap.

I am a massive fan of the series and I just can't complete this one. I keep trying to play it and it's just not interesting to me whatsoever. They even fucked the multiplayer compared to 3, which is a shame because it was so good.

Also want to say Fallout 4. I got all the achievements for it on Steam out of spite. I got all of them for 3 and New Vegas, so I did it with this too. Fuck that was awful.

I don't really get how Brawl could be such a huge disappointment to any non-competitive player. Even competitive players look back at it in a more positive light these days.

Yes, it's slower than Melee, and you don't need to be competitive to notice that. But is that really it?

Haze. Timesplitters was my all time favorite game series when I was younger, and this was Free Radical's big next gen game, and it fucking sucked so bad.
Metroid. Playing Super and Fusion first spoiled me, I guess. Greatly disliked Prime but I didn't have any expectations going in in the first place so honestly can't say I was 'disappointed' with that one.

Donkey Kong Country 3, but then again, 'biggest gaming disappointment' might be an exaggeration that game doesn't deserve. It's still a pretty good one.

LoZ: Majora's Mask, but then again, I didn't give that game a proper try/chance. I should replay it one of these days when I have the time, I'm pretty sure my opinion about it will improve.

Devil May Cry 2 and it's not even close. The original was great, then a sequel finally comes out and it is garbage. Dante barely even spoke, the levels were bad, I don't remember the combat even being fun.

They went from making one of the best, coolest action games of all time to making a steaming pile of Devil dung.
Bosses are immune to the eat command so it won't be possible to end the final boss fight of the game by eating it.

Fallout 4, by far. I spent hundreds of hours on FO3 and NV, and this was the only game I went up to get a midnight release of ever, and I never actually beat the game. It was a little salvageable with mods, but my god what an utter disappointment

    I think I follow games too closely to really be disappointed. I’m never really surprised by anything enough to be disappointed. That, and years of gaming has made me pretty cynical.

    I think, in terms of true disappointment, the last games I was disappointed with were probably 8 bit and 16 bit era games. I was pretty disappointed by NES’s TMNT and TC Surf or whatever it was called. Then I was disappointed by like the Genesis’ X-Men. You know, stuff where you had no idea what you were getting before you put the game in.

    You did not specify if this was for a recent release, or biggest disappointment of all time. So I will go with the latter.

    Easily, the so-called "resident evil 4" game that came out on the GameCube fifteen or so years back. I was a huge fan of the franchise at the time, but when I bought this game I simply could not believe it. Everything was gone; all I got for my money was a lousy third-party shooter game that didn't have anything to do with Resident Evil at all. Even the name was wrong (as Code:Veronica was actually the 4th Resident Evil game). Even Umbrella was "tossed away" before I even got control of the game. I only played with it for an hour or so, before shoving the game on the shelf in disgust where it still sits. I still consider this the single worst game I have ever willingly purchased. What a con!

    Halo 3.

    Halo 2 was my multiplayer game for years. Halo 3 didn't have the luster online that 2 had.
    Don't support the destruction of gaming. Don't buy an Xbox One.
    MGSV for me. As a diehard MGS fan, I was SO disappointed in how it turned out. It was a worse version of Peace Walker on my opinion.

    Fallout 4 can also get a mention. As some others have said, if it wasn't for mods saving it, it would be dead in the water.

    You know, when you think about it, 2015 was pretty much a year of disappointment for me for big named games. Fallout 4, MGSV, Star Wars: Battlefront, CoD.... only two games that were very good in my opinion that year were Witcher 3 and Batman: Arkham Knight.
    MGSV = DISAPPOINTMENT
    Destiny = Worst FPS PvP.

    I don't disagree with your assessment, but I wasn't as disappointed by FC3 since it was still relatively new and all three games had been unique up to that point. I was, however, really disappointed with Far Cry 4, which was a complete rehash.

    It was new for the series but it was essentially just an FPS version of Assassin's Creed. It had similarities like the framework of the game with the tower system and the only side content being the same five mission types repeating ad nauseum and boring collectibles. They also effectively made it a stealth game by giving you massive point bonuses for stealth gameplay. Honestly I could go on for hours. It was still fairly fun but it just had no soul or focus.
